Dr. Robert J Foster, OD

Being married with three children, Dr. Robert J Foster, OD would humbly tell you that his greatest success is his family. However, he is a man who has earned many accolades and achievements over the years.

Early on he was raised in Warrenton, North Carolina by his great-aunt and uncle, who he accredits as giving him the desire to become a doctor. He attended Millbrook high school in Raleigh, NC, where he was a member of the basketball team. Rob later went on to play basketball and begin his formal education at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho), where he earned his AS in sports medicine.  A torn ACL in college was the catalyst to him becoming more focused on medicine and injury prevention. After playing another year post injury, he decided to forego his career as a student athlete in order to concentrate more on becoming an optometrist.

Once he graduated from Ricks, he continued his education; first at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, receiving his Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Organization Management, then at Salus University in Philadelphia to earn his doctorate. After graduating Rob moved back home to Raleigh and started his optometry practice and began to coach basketball and invest in youth.

Rob has consistently been an advocate for the community with a desire to positively impact the lives of others; in fact, he served his Church as a full time missionary at his own expense in Arcadia California, learning a little Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Before that, while a student Rob was named the 2000 Ricks College Man of the Year for his service in the Rexburg community. He was even elected the Student Body President of BYU with a population of over 30,000 students.

Along with his business partner, Tyrone Brown, Rob started Legacy Vertimax to continue to help the Raleigh community develop athletes and help them prevent injuries. Legacy VertiMax looks to help young and old increase strength, speed, and agility while preventing injury and helping them recover.
